Some online resources to help you access, manipulate and use maps and overhead photographs. Loc8 has high quality maps and photogrpahs for the YHGfL region - try Create-a-scape for some exciting ideas for use.

Web based maps and high definition overhead photographs for the region. The site also has many extra features including the ability to measure distances and areas and to access and post extra information about specific locations. Contact your local ICT Associate for login details for your school.

Create-a-Scape

To create a mediascape, you start with a digital map of an area. Using special, free software, you can attach digital sounds, pictures and video to places that you choose on the map.

Mscape Toolkit

The mscape toolkit is a development tool for building and testing mediascapes on your PC running Windows XP. This package includes the mscape maker, tester and library, as well as the mscape player for your GPS-enabled Windows Mobile device.

Puts a planet's worth of imagery and other geographic information right on your desktop. View exotic locations. Try the Tour, go also to the Forbidden City and 'fly-through' the Grand Canyon - phenomenal.

The latest version of Google Earth - version 4.2 - has a 'hidden' flight simulator. Press Ctrl - A to fly one of two aircraft across landscapes anywhere in the world.
