These materials are designed to help Science Departments to devlop their Schemes of Learning to deliver the New Secondary Curriculum, especially for KS3
On this page you will find the resources you need to develop your new KS3 curriculum, from the How Science Works Progression Ladders and Range and Content Progression Ladders to suggestions on how you might build up cross curricular projects.
There are links to case studies of good practice on the QCA website, and it will also have links to the SNS Science framework when available.

The advantage is that each Strand fits on 1 A4 page. The Range and Content ladders are less detailed than the NY progression ladders.

Range and Content

The Progression ladders below cover the Range and Content of the new curriculum, as identified by the North Yorkshire Progresion Project team. They are based around the Key Ideas (from the old KS3 Framework): Forces, Energy, Particles, Interdependence and Cells. The names of the progression ladders have been chosen to match the new curriculum.
There are also Progression Ladders for Space, Rocks and Sustainability.
